The CEO of PJSC "Ukrsotsbank", UniCredit BankTM, about the fate of foreign investors in Ukraine, influence of searches to investattractiveness and about the plans of Italian banking group to build its working strategy in Ukraine

05.11.2013

The CEO of PJSC "Ukrsotsbank", UniCredit Bank™, Graziano Cameli, in his first interview to “InvestGazeta’ told about his views to Ukrainian banking system, the work of NBU and prospects of Ukrainian economy.

According to Graziano Cameli the strategy and goals of PJSC "Ukrsotsbank", UniCredit Bank™, remain unchanged, among the priorities of which are clients’ interests: "The goal remains the same – to be the top bank in the country, meeting our customer interests to the best advantage. Both of large corporates – local and international – and of retail clients with emphasis on car loans and mortgages. And the small and medium business is moving to the background. Now we are expanding the offer in consumer loans. We strive to equally develop both segments. Both the corporate and retail areas bring revenues to the Bank, and we see the potential for growth in both. The most profitable direction is to take into account the full range of our customers’ interests. Now the revenues are divided in the proportion of 33% to 67% - for the corporate and retail segments respectively".

Concerning the development of financial-credit sector in general the banker adheres to an opinion that despite all the measures taken to improve the climate, the country still does not see such recovery or effective reforms to encourage foreign investments. Nevertheless Mr. Cameli, commenting the possible signing of Association Agreement with EU, noted: "Investors and banks need a clear picture of reforms that will protect the rights of creditors, weaken the administrative burden, and completely change the judicial system. If the country signs the Agreement, it will finally declare the pitch it wants to play in".

Graziano Cameli also commented the plans of the group on developing UniCredit business in Ukraine: "Acquisition of such large bank as Ukrsotsbank means a long-term presence strategy. Merger with UniCredit Bank proved this vector once again. The Group always examines in detail what is going on in the country of its presence – both in Ukraine and other countries of presence. There has not been taken any decision to change the UniCredit presence strategy in Ukraine so far".

NOTE

Ukrsotsbank is one of the largest universal banks of Ukraine, operating in the local market since 1990. The bank offers full range of services to individuals and corporate clients.

The renovated Ukrsotsbank emerged on 31 October 2016 as a result of strategic deal whereby 99.9% of Ukrsotsbank shares have been transferred from UniCredit Group to ABH Holdings S.A. (АВНН) in exchange for a minority 9.9% stake in ABHH. Thus, the bank has combined 26-year-old traditions of Ukrsotsbank’s client-centric attitude, European quality of service inherent to UniCredit, as well as international banking expertise of ABHH in a number of European countries including CIS. Thanks to the successful synthesis and synergy of the two assets of ABHH in Ukraine, Ukrsotsbank and Alfa-Bank, the banking market of Ukraine will see the rise of a new stronger financial institution. This, in turn, will spur up technological advance, increase efficiency, improve quality of service for the clients, reduce cost of banking services whereas their range will inevitably expand.

The extensive retail network of Ukrsotsbank consists of 237 branches, its headcount reaching nearly 5 thousand employees.
