PJSC “Ukrsotsbank”, UniCredit Bank™, acted in support of Ukrainian grandmaster at the European Individual Chess Championship 2013

PJSC “Ukrsotsbank”, which operates under the UniCredit Bank trade mark, became a sponsor of talented Ukrainian grandmaster, Yuri Ayrapetyan’s participation at the European Individual Chess Championship 2013.

The European Individual Chess Championship 2013 will be held from 4th till 17th May in the city of Legnica, Poland. "Polonia Wrocław" Chess Club under the guidance of the European Chess Union is the organizer of the tournament. The current Championship is open for all players, who represent chess federations-members of the European Chess Union, disregarding their titles or ratings. The Championship will be organized according to the Swiss system in 11 tours in correspondence to ECU Tournament Regulations and FIDE Chess Rules.

It should be noted that it is not the first time when PJSC “Ukrsotsbank”, which operates under the UniCredit Bank trade mark, acts as the sponsor of the chess player at the international contests. In late 2012 Yuri Ayrapetyan, who is not only an employee of PJSC "Ukrsotsbank" but also an International Grandmaster of chess, took part in the "Memorial M.I. Chyhoryna" international chess festival in Saint-Petersburg under the support of the Bank. The player received the title of International Master in 2005 and won the title of grandmaster in 2007.

Irina Kobylchenko, Head of Identity and Communications in PJSC "Ukrsotsbank”, UniCredit Bank™, commenting the Bank’s initiative, said: “I am pleased to realize that from now on we can add intellectual kind of sport, such as chess, to the priority vectors of Bank’s social activity, which are sports, art and support to children. PJSC “Ukrsotsbank”, UniCredit Bank™, is proud to support our colleague, Yuri Ayrapetyan, who, besides professional achievements, gained an international recognition. By this initiative the Bank not only supports the young player, but also promotes social and cultural growth of Ukrainian society in general”.

Ukrsotsbank is one of the largest universal banks of Ukraine, operating in the local market since 1990. The bank offers full range of services to individuals and corporate clients.

The renovated Ukrsotsbank emerged on 31 October 2016 as a result of strategic deal whereby 99.9% of Ukrsotsbank shares have been transferred from UniCredit Group to ABH Holdings S.A. (АВНН) in exchange for a minority 9.9% stake in ABHH. Thus, the bank has combined 26-year-old traditions of Ukrsotsbank’s client-centric attitude, European quality of service inherent to UniCredit, as well as international banking expertise of ABHH in a number of European countries including CIS. Thanks to the successful synthesis and synergy of the two assets of ABHH in Ukraine, Ukrsotsbank and Alfa-Bank, the banking market of Ukraine will see the rise of a new stronger financial institution. This, in turn, will spur up technological advance, increase efficiency, improve quality of service for the clients, reduce cost of banking services whereas their range will inevitably expand.

The extensive retail network of Ukrsotsbank consists of 237 branches, its headcount reaching nearly 5 thousand employees.
