UniCredit and the UEFA Champions League in 2012/ 2013 season

The new season of the UEFA Champins League sponsorship has just begun and it will be the first season for UniCredit to activate its exclusive additional rights.

Among others, the right of using the new designation “Official Bank of the UEFA Champions League” creates a close link between the sponsorship and UniCredit’s core business as a financial institution. So does the newly negotiated right to produce the “Official UEFA Champions League Match Coin provided by UniCredit” which can be used by the referee for the official coin toss before every match. The Match Coin will be joined by the “Official Coin Collection”.

As of the beginning of the new UEFA Champions League season 2012/ 13 four new TV billboards will be used to rotate between and within the UEFA Champions League stages on Ukrainian TV. These spots transfer the REAL LIFE BANKING positioning of UniCredit into a football context by showing passion and relevance for this sport beyond matches and how football invades real life situations.

The sponsorship rights of UniCredit within Ukraine will be presented by PJSC “UniCredit Bank” and PJSC “Ukrsotsbank” which operate under UniCredit Bank trade mark. The engagement of UniCredit in the UEFA Champions League has opened many opportunities of bringing the world of football closer to UniCredit’s Central Eastern European markets. Especially the UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour presented by UniCredit that was also held successfully in the two biggest cities of Ukraine – Kiev and Donetsk – under the support of UniCredit Bank in season 2011/ 2012 brought the spirit of football closer to its fans. In some branches of PJSC “Ukrsotsbank”, UniCredit Bank™, there are already special fan corners available for those clients who wish to enjoy playing virtual football games.

David Taylor, CEO UEFA Events S.A., commenting on sponsorship prolongation stated: “We are extremely pleased that UniCredit has chosen to extend its agreement with UEFA and with the UEFA Champions League for another three-year cycle. Their renewed support and contribution, particularly in the promotion of the competition in Eastern Europe, is highly valued. As one of the key activities, the UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour presented by UniCredit has created unforgettable and exciting experiences for football fans in those territories. The UEFA Champions League continues to be a very valuable platform for our sponsor partners and we are confident that it will continue to provide UniCredit with excellent opportunities to connect with fans across Europe and further strengthen their association with the competition”.

UniCredit has been a partner of UEFA and the UEFA Champions League since season 2009/ 2010.

Ukrsotsbank is one of the largest universal banks of Ukraine, operating in the local market since 1990. The bank offers full range of services to individuals and corporate clients.

The renovated Ukrsotsbank emerged on 31 October 2016 as a result of strategic deal whereby 99.9% of Ukrsotsbank shares have been transferred from UniCredit Group to ABH Holdings S.A. (АВНН) in exchange for a minority 9.9% stake in ABHH. Thus, the bank has combined 26-year-old traditions of Ukrsotsbank’s client-centric attitude, European quality of service inherent to UniCredit, as well as international banking expertise of ABHH in a number of European countries including CIS. Thanks to the successful synthesis and synergy of the two assets of ABHH in Ukraine, Ukrsotsbank and Alfa-Bank, the banking market of Ukraine will see the rise of a new stronger financial institution. This, in turn, will spur up technological advance, increase efficiency, improve quality of service for the clients, reduce cost of banking services whereas their range will inevitably expand.

The extensive retail network of Ukrsotsbank consists of 237 branches, its headcount reaching nearly 5 thousand employees.
