UniCredit turn off the lights for Earth Hour

On March 31st, 2012, UniCredit joins WWF Earth Hour, the 60 minutes worldwide WWF event, starting at 20.30, that will switch off almost 70 between the most representative buildings of the Group to send a strong signal to the World’s giants, inviting them to take action against global climate change.

This is the fourth time that UniCredit takes part in this initiative and this year the Group's commitment goes well beyond the 60 minutes: UniCredit will provide the UniCredit WWF Credit Card for free to all employees that work in Italian UniCredit offices (on request). Using this card, 3 per thousand of the expenditure will be donated to the project Oasi WWF. UniCredit will also be the first company to join the "Paperfree" WWF membership campaign with its employees (free for the first year).

In accordance with the approach taken towards the environmental sustainability, the Group participates in this event on a global scale to make "visible" its commitment to the the climate change issue. Argument, this, that has a big impact within the community and from which an international organization like us cannot avoid.

Our partnership in Earth Hour symbolizes our awareness as a group about the responsibility we have to deal with major environmental issues and sustainable development. We hope that each individual is able and willing to help to preserve the immense natural capital we have, starting from the daily behavior, and in order to transfer it safely to future generations.

NOTE

The renovated Ukrsotsbank emerged on 31 October 2016 as a result of strategic deal whereby 99.9% of Ukrsotsbank shares have been transferred from UniCredit Group to ABH Holdings S.A. Thus, the bank has combined 26-year-old traditions of Ukrsotsbank’s client-centric attitude, European quality of service inherent to UniCredit, as well as international banking expertise of ABHH in a number of European countries including CIS. Thanks to the successful synthesis and synergy of the two assets of ABHH in Ukraine, Ukrsotsbank and Alfa-Bank, the banking market of Ukraine will see the rise of a new stronger financial institution. This, in turn, will spur up technological advance, increase efficiency, improve quality of service for the clients, reduce cost of banking services whereas their range will inevitably expand.

The extensive retail network of Ukrsotsbank consists of 237 branches, its headcount reaching nearly 5 thousand employees.
