UniCredit brings the UEFA Champions League Trophy to Donetsk

  • The third UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour presented by UniCredit reached Donetsk and successfully opened its doors to the public.
  • For three days the legendary trophy will be presented within a memorable exhibition at Lenin Square from October 7 till October 9, inviting everyone to experience the unique atmosphere of UEFA Champions League.
  • After journey around Ukraine, the UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour presented by UniCredit will finish with a last stop in Belgrade, Serbia.

Today the third UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour presented by UniCredit opens in another city of Ukraine, Donetsk, and announces by a press conference. Representatives of UniCredit, UniCredit Bank™, UEFA and Donetsk city, as well as Luís Figo, the Official UniCredit Ambassador for the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour Ambassadors, Dwight Yorke and UniCredit Bank Ambassador for Trophy Tour in Ukraine, Andriy Pyatov, famous Ukrainian football player, gave the starting signal for the three-day event at Lenin Square.

One big highlight will be Luís Figo, who will join the Trophy Tour for the kick-off at all five stops. “As Official UniCredit Ambassador for the UEFA Champions League I have already accompanied various activities. Major event was the Trophy Tour 2010 of UniCredit, which brought me into countries like Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Austria. Until October 9 football fans will have the unique opportunity to be close to the UEFA Champions League trophy. An exciting exhibition at Lenin Square will open its doors free of charge and present the most sought-after Trophy, embedded in the fascinating world of Europe’s most prestigious club football competition. Passing through a simulated “Players’ Tunnel”, accompanied by rapturous applause, visitors will enter an exhibition space comprised of photos, videos and multi-media effects, bringing to life the most celebrated contests with all the goals and remarkable moments of the tournament. Historic memorabilia recalls the greatest ever champions of the European Champion Clubs’ Cup and its successor, the UEFA Champions League, while big screens let the visitor relive magic moments of the prestigious tournament. A touch screen invites to dive into the last UEFA Champions League season and to navigate through the highlights of previous Trophy Tours. A special highlight of the exhibition is the opportunity to take a personal picture with the UEFA Champions League trophy which after registration will be available online.

The Trophy Tour is embedded into an attractive local event program celebrating the UEFA Champions League trophy, the emotions and values connected to it. During three days of the event, the guests of the UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour presented by UniCredit will participate in lots of interesting events including: autograph sessions with selected football celebrities, football competitions and master classes on the real football fields, prize raffles and souvenirs, fascinating performances, karaoke contests and much more.

The annual UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour presented by UniCredit is becoming a heart-warming European tradition. During 2009 – 2010 the UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour has already visited ten countries. More than 200.000 people enjoyed the Trophy Tour events so far in 49 cities, 8.000 kilometers were driven, and 46.500 pictures were taken with the famous trophy.

After Donetsk this year’s Trophy Tour will continue its journey to Belgrade (Serbia) from 14th to 16th of October, where UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour 2011 ends.
