Ukrsotsbank and Alfa-Bank Ukraine facilitated a meeting of children from socially affected families and football stars

On June 26, 2017, Alfa Jazz Fest hosted the Football Day in memory of Andrii Bal, supported by Ukrsotsbank and Alfa-Bank Ukraine. That day children from socially affected families, refugees and participants of football tournaments from Rivne and Rozdol got an opportunity to meet football celebrities from Dynamo Kyiv, Karpaty Lviv and other football clubs, to attend football matches at Arena Lviv, and to take away a bunch of gifts from the banks.

4 football events took place within "football Monday" at Alfa Jazz Fest. The holiday started with a tournament between 4 teams of Alfa-Bank’s clients, journalists and partners of the festival. The tournament was followed by a friendly match between the friends of Andrii Bal: Oleksii Mykhailychenko, Anatolii Demianenko, Volodymyr Bezsonov, Vasyl Rats, Oleksandr Shovkovskyi, Volodymyr Yezerskyi, Yurii Maksymov, Viktor Rafalchuk, Anatolii Saulevych and others, and the winners of the annual children's football cup named after Andrii Bal.

"I didn’t even ponder whether to go or not when I was invited. I had worked under the guidance of Andrii Bal, played on the World Cup. He had played for Dynamo Kyiv remarkably and I was very proud to play with him," – comments the legendary goalkeeper of Dynamo Kyiv Oleksandr Shovkovskyi.

Young football players, winners of the annual Ukrainian children's football cup named after Andrii Bal, had made football veterans break extra sweat in order to win, but the next team to enter the field didn’t leave football celebrities any chance for success.

For the final match of the day 100 kids from all over Ukraine hit the field all at once to play against the friends of Andrii Bal. The kids won the spectacular battle with the score 3:2, scoring the first goal on the 20th second of the match.

"I want to thank the organization team of the holiday for bright impressions, positive emotions and joy in my daughter’s eyes," – wrote Marta Nahirna, whose child took part in the match. Having received a bunch of positive feedback from participants and visitors of the holiday, organizers promise to make football event a tradition of the jazz festival in Lviv.

"Our idea was to make it a social event, and so we brought more than 350 kids from socially affected families to the stadium. More than that, we've asked Sviatoslav Vakarchuk, Jamala, Khrystyna Solovii and a few celebrity football players to come and talk to these kids, make selfies and sign a t-shirt or three. The effect of the event can be judged by a single moment when one of the 6-year-olds burst into tears after hugging a footballer he couldn't dare dreaming to see in person. Moments like these make me feel proud for the bank and the things we are doing together," CEO of Alfa-Group in Ukraine Ivan Svitek said.

"I can’t say that I’m a big fan of football. But I do know that when there is a positive energy, when people come together, children come together to make something good – play football or listen to music, it’s far better than just doing nothing," summarized Jamala, the Ukrainian winner of the Eurovision 2016.

Ukrsotsbank is one of the largest universal banks of Ukraine, operating in the local market since 1990. The bank offers full range of services to individuals and corporate clients.

The renovated Ukrsotsbank emerged on 31 October 2016 as a result of strategic deal whereby 99.9% of Ukrsotsbank shares have been transferred from UniCredit Group to ABH Holdings S.A. (АВНН) in exchange for a minority 9.9% stake in ABHH. Thus, the bank has combined 26-year-old traditions of Ukrsotsbank’s client-centric attitude, European quality of service inherent to UniCredit, as well as international banking expertise of ABHH in a number of European countries including CIS. Thanks to the successful synthesis and synergy of the two assets of ABHH in Ukraine, Ukrsotsbank and Alfa-Bank, the banking market of Ukraine will see the rise of a new stronger financial institution. This, in turn, will spur up technological advance, increase efficiency, improve quality of service for the clients, reduce cost of banking services whereas their range will inevitably expand.

The extensive retail network of Ukrsotsbank consists of 237 branches, its headcount reaching nearly 5 thousand employees.
